Alan D. Hodges

Boght Corners, NY Alan D. Hodges, 70, passed away peacefully on February 22nd, after a few years of frail health. He is survived by his wife of nearly 48 years, Lynn and their children Brian, Dianna, and Curtis & wife Alicia Hodges. Seven grandchildren Cassie, Donovan, Nicholas, Emma, Starlynn, Oliver and Shaun. Also surviving Alan is his brother Bill and wife Debbie, sister-in-law Gretchen and her children Shaun, Mark, Erin, Nicholas and their families. His mother-in-law Pat, sister-in-law Sandie and her family, brother-in-law Andrew his wife Diane and their family. As well as many others. He is pre deceased by his parents Bill and Olga Hodges his brother George and granddaughter Addy. Alan was a member of the St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church and held various positions including trustee. He was a member of the Boght Community Fire Department for over 50 years. He wore many hats there including Firefighter, Paramedic, Captain of the Ambulance ,and Fire Police President and Commissioner. He was a member of the Association of Fire District of New York State Capital Area, holding many positions including Vice President. Alan volunteered on the North Colonie Ambulance and was a driver for many years for the Town of Colonie EMS. He also volunteered with the Red Cross donating his rare blood and apheresis. He was also on their Disaster Team for many years, helping with Katrina in Alabama and Texas. as well as ice storms and flooding in Oklahoma, Georgia and Florida. Alan also a volunteer for the Albany County Meals On Wheels program. He just enjoyed helping people and would encourage others to do the same. Visitation Hours will be Thursday from 4 to 6pm, at the St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church located at 67 Saratoga Street, Cohoes, NY 12047. Funeral will be Friday 11am at the church, interment will be at St. Nicolas Cemetery, Route 9 next to Guptill’s. Due to Covid-19, social distancing guidelines will be followed, and masks will be required, for everyone’s protection. All Officers and Members of the Boght Community Fire Department and Ladies Auxiliary are requested to meet in full dress uniform at the fire house on Thursday at 4pm.
