David E. Campbell

Cohoes NY, David E. Campbell, 69, of Cohoes passed away from a brief illness on December 9, 2016. Born in Troy, New York he was the son of the late Edward “Ike” Campbell and the late Madeline J. Shaughnessy. He was a devoted family man who just welcomed his first grandchild, Mason Gregg, in August. His “Mase Mase” was his pride and joy and he was looking forward to seeing him grow. David’s passion for acting gained him the honor of being a member of the SAG-AFTRA Union. He was an active man who loved golfing, skiing, whitewater rafting and traveling. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. Dave proudly served the State of New York at the Department of Tax and Finance where he leaves behind many colleagues and friends. He was a history buff who loved reading, writing and listening to music. Dave always had a smile on his face and a joke on his lips. The legacy of his kind spirit and zest for life will live on through his loved ones. Dave is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 43 years Susan, his beloved daughter Alyssa, dear friend and son-in-law John Leckonby, grandson Mason Leckonby, and his sister Barbara (Sandy) Giacomini all of Cohoes. Dave had a loving and supportive extended family including his mother-in-law Martha (Marcie) Surprenant, brother-in-law’s Kevin and Stephan Surprenant, Aunt and Uncle Denise and Irving Lobdell, his nieces Ashley (Russell) Eggers and Sarah Giacomini, his nephews E.J. Giacomini and Kris Surprenant, great-niece Ella Eggers and great-nephew Leander Eggers, his great friends Glen (Buddy) Dame, The Pertierra’s, The Skroupa’s adored cousins The Campbell’s and The Martell-Jones’s and many more great friends and family who will all miss him dearly. Dave’s memorial service will be held on Wednesday December 14th, at 7pm at Marra’s Funeral Home, 246 Remsen St, Cohoes, NY 12047. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Wednesday December 14th, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Marra’s Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dave’s memory to Make-A-Wish Northeast New York, in honor of Team Dame, 3 Washington Sq. Albany, NY 12205.
