Clifton Park, NY Elizabeth “Betty” Gregory, 83, of Clifton Park, NY, passed away at her home on March 15, 2026. Elizabeth was born on January 13, 1943, in Albany, NY, and was the daughter of the late George and Elizabeth (McClean) White. Betty lived a life anchored in love, courage, and deep compassion for others. From a young age, Betty dreamed of becoming a nurse and she fulfilled that calling wholeheartedly. She trained at St. Peter’s School of Nursing and earned her license through the Albany County Nursing Program. Throughout her long career, she cared for others both professionally and personally, working many years with Community Health Plan and later with Community Care Physicians. Even in retirement, Betty continued to serve others, volunteering at St. Edward the Confessor Church in Clifton Park, where she offered blood pressure screenings after Sunday Mass. Betty’s greatest joy came from time spent with family and friends. She welcomed all into her home for big family dinners filled with laughter, homemade meatballs, and her famous spice cake. She cherished summer days on Cape Cod with her beloved husband, sisters, brothers, children, and grandchildren, making memories that will live forever in their hearts. She is survived by her devoted husband, Edward K. Gregory of Clifton Park, NY; her children Beth Cartwright (Larry) of Slingerlands, NY, Tom White (Lisa) of Albany, NY, Steven White of Colonie, NY, and Meghann Doiron (Michael) of Charleston, SC,; and her stepchildren Edward Jr. Gregory (Karen), John Gregory (Mary), Nancy Hytko (Daniel), and Mary Ellen Gregory all of Cohoes, NY. Betty was predeceased by her sister, Catherine Burns of Albany, NY; her stepson Daniel Gregory (Lesleigh) of Cohoes, NY; and her granddaughter Bailey Reardon of Cohoes, NY. She leaves behind 17 cherished grandchildren, their partners, 6 great grandchildren, her sisters, brothers, nieces, and nephews, each of whom she loved deeply. In her final years, Betty faced a rare neurological disease that gradually took away many of life’s simple pleasures. Yet through every challenge, she remained graceful and uncomplaining. Her one wish was to stay at home with her husband, a wish made possible by the compassionate nurses and caregivers who supported her in her final months, along with the dedicated team from The Community Hospice. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 12 noon from St. Edward The Confessor Church Clifton Park. Calling hours are Monday from 9-11am at the Marra Funeral Home, intermittent will be at St. Mary’s Waterford. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to these caregivers for allowing Betty to pass peacefully and with dignity in her own home, surrounded by love.
