Eugene M. Rossi

With the most devastated hearts, the family of Eugene M. Rossi, announces his passing on January 23rd at the age of 33. Born in Albany to the late Eugene A. Rossi, and Joan M. Esposito of Cohoes. Gene would go on to reside in Cohoes where he attended and graduated from the Cohoes school district and played for the CHS football team. Gene was most recently attending Phoenix University for Computer Science. He perfected a 4.0 GPA during his last semester, and was inducted into the Collegiate Honor Society. Gene was previously employed by the Cohoes Community Center (where he built a long lasting bond with his mentor, Jody Garceau), Sam’s Club, Regeneron and Mohawk Fine Papers. Gene was best known for his sense of humor and contagious laugh (mostly referred to as the hyena cackle by his family!) He had a keen sense for making people laugh and uplifting them when they needed it most. Gene was the most non-judgmental person and accepted everyone for exactly who they are. Whether he was in a store, an event, a bar, or a restaurant, he would leave having every patron as a new friend. Gene would often seek those who were alone, and make them feel welcomed and a part of his circle. He was always happy to enjoy the view of the stars or a scenic sunset and talk about life or lend a listening ear to anyone who needed it. His biggest focus in life was making sure his friends and family were happy Gene was an avid gamer, a Pokemon collector & follower, and loved the NY Giants. His competitive nature always made pong and other party games the most fun. He was absolutely always the life of the party. Gene loved to cook and was a food enthusiast. Growing up as the baby and only boy in a family full of sisters & women, Gene was the King of our family & hearts. In 2015, Gene’s absolute pride and joy entered this world. His son, Gino James Rossi was the light of his life. Becoming a Dad was one of the proudest moments in his life. He shares his son with the love of his life, Kimberly Richardson. In addition to his cherished son, Gene is survived by a host of family who loved him unconditionally. Survivors include his mother, Joan Esposito with whom he shared a very deep friendship. His sisters with whom he shared very bonded relationships- Danielle Kanser (Jason), Nicole Vautrin, Jennifer Seitz (Ray), Amanda Rossi, & Shen & Jasmine Rossi. Gene had a special relationship with his nieces & nephew- Aubrey Castle, Ava Vautrin, Mia Seitz, and Jeffrey Vautrin. In addition, Gene is survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and loved ones. Predeceased by his father Eugene A. Rossi and his grandmothers, Joan Esposito and Geraldine Durocher. Gene had an abundance of friends everywhere he went. He shared a long-lasting brotherhood with Stephen Rousia, Corey Law, Michael McGuirk, Michael Ellis (Digger), Dale Bressette, Mike Law, Pat Willey, James Wright, Brandon Dame, Scott Cramer, Eric Thomas, Austin Kownack, and Everett Ostrander. You could often find Gene and his “brothers" playing basketball at Sunset Park, devouring Micks pizza, playing various yard games, and long talks about everything in their lives during their long walks on Peebles Island and the bike trail. Calling hours will be Tues. 2/4 at Marra Funeral Home from 3-6 with a priest service at 6pm. His burial will be private.
