John F. LaPlante

Green Island, NY John F. LaPlante lovingly referred to friends and family as “Frannie”, was 77 years old, a lifelong veteran and resident of Cohoes, NY and more recently Green Island, NY passed away suddenly on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at home. Frannie was born in Ausable Forks, NY on November 19, 1943, the son of Clifford and Evelyn LaPlante. For over forty years, Frannie worked as Color Specialist for various textile mills in Schenectady, NY, and recently Comfortex Window Fashions in Watervliet NY. After retiring, he went back to school at EOC in Troy NY and earned his GED. He is survived by three sisters, one brother, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law: Rita and James Nolan, Waterford, NY, Michael and Darlene LaPlante, Lorraine LaPlante, Saranac, NY, Rose and Jerome Gladney, and Loretta LaPlante-Rivera, Ravena-Coeymans, NY, and James Furnia and Marilyn Velie, of Saranac, NY. His is also survived by three children, Mary LaPlante-Hubicki, Troy, NY, Evelyn LaPlante, and John “John John” LaPlante, of Green Island NY. Also with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and countless friends. He was predeceased by his father Clifford LaPlante, his mother, Evelyn Dinelle, his brother Jim LaPlante, his sister, Patricia LaPlante-Furnia, his wife Linda Pelton-LaPlante, and their beloved daughter, Gracie LaPlante-Boyce. Always a quiet man with a remarkable sense of humor, he will be remembered for his quiet dignity. He was an uncomplicated man who believed in the honesty of a hard day’s work, and in the importance of family. In his unassuming way, Frannie was there for his loved ones, always giving of himself. He was the best father, brother, cousin, and uncle a family could hope to have. Frannie was an avid hunter, fisherman, and enjoyed watching the Yankees at home or at the stadium with his son “John John” and grandson Joshua LaPlante and working on cars for friends and family. A small ceremony will be for Frannie on Monday, November 8th, at 1 P.M. at the Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd, Schyulerville, NY where Preacher Sean Nolan will officiate for his uncle’s funeral. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions in his name to the Albany Veterans Hospital of Albany, NY or St. Jude Children Research Hospital.
