Josephine A. Rivet

Josephine Ann Rivet 85 died July 18, 2022. Born in Amsterdam, NY on January 10, 1937 she was daughter of the late Peter and Jennie Gatto Capozzelli. Step daughter of the late Giuseppe Reale. She had moved to Watervliet in 1953 and graduated from Watervliet High School in 1955. In 1961 she married Robert M. Rivet and moved to Cohoes. They enjoyed 53 years together until his passing in 2014. She had been employed at New York Telephone Company and later was a Teachers Aid at Van Schaick School. She also worked at the former Boston Store in Latham and retired from Priceless Kids. After retirement Josephine volunteered at the Gift Shop at Eddy Rehabilitation Center in Cohoes. She enjoyed baking cookies for family and friends, drawing, crafts, gardening, vacationing in Maine, playing bocci ball and scrabble with her niece Robin and late brother Joe Capozzelli. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Waterford and a member of the St. Anne’s Activity Club. Josephine loved her family deeply, especially her grandchildren, they brought her so much joy and laughter. She was a women of deep faith and lived her life with kindness, compassion and forgiveness. Her beautiful spirit touched many lives and she will be forever missed. Survived by her three sons David R. Rivet of Cohoes, Robert M. (Lisa) Rivet of Waterford and Michael P. Rivet of Watervliet. She was grandmother of Timothy Rivet, Jacob Rivet, Sarah Rivet and Isaac Rivet. Also survived by her step family Victor Reale, Pete and Pia Reale, Margie (late August) Reale, the late Sylvia Reale and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday at 12 noon from St. Mary The Assumption Church in Waterford. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery Waterford. Relatives and friends may call at the Marra Funeral Home Monday from 9:30am – 11:30 am. The family would like to offer a special thank you to the family and friends who always reached out through cards, phone calls, visits and thoughtful gifts. Your kindness and love for our mother meant so much to us. In lieu of flowers donations in Josephine’s memory may be made to St Mary of the Assumption Church 119 Broad St. Waterford NY 12188.
