Phillip Francis Kelly

Cohoes, NY Phillip Francis Kelly, 76, passed away peacefully at his home in Latham, NY, on Wednesday, September 10th, surrounded by his loving family. Born October 10, 1948, in Troy, NY, he was the son of the late Frank and Theresa Kelly. Phil proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps as part of the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marines during the Vietnam War from 1966–1969. For his service and sacrifice, he was awarded the Purple Heart, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal, among others. After returning home, Phil devoted himself to a long career in construction. He was known as an extremely hard worker who took pride in every project he touched. He would give anyone the shirt off his back, and he was always there to help family, friends, or neighbors. He found peace and joy in the outdoors, spending many weekends camping with family and friends. A devoted New York Giants and Yankees fan, he never missed cheering on his teams. Above all, he treasured the companionship of his beloved dog, Callie, whose loyalty and affection brought him endless comfort and joy. More than anything, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved his family deeply and made sure they were always cared for. His love, strength, and generosity will be remembered by all who knew him. Phil is survived by his beloved wife, Jacquelyne Kelly; his children, Ryan (Anj) Kelly, Joe (Christy) Rascoe, Kevin Sunkes, and Billie-Jean (Matt) Wroblewski; his siblings, Colleen (Roger) Gamache and Frank Kelly; his grandchildren, Reid, Madison, Caitlynn, Rylynn, Collin, Jack, Sophie; his late grandson Anders; and his great-grandson baby Joey; Two Aunts, several cousins, several beloved nieces and nephews; his best buddy "Brownie" Dan Brown; and many cherished friends. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his courage, kindness, and the legacy of love he leaves behind. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1pm from the Marra Funeral Home. Interment with full military honors will be in Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday from 10-1 at the funeral home prior to services.
