Stella St.John

Stella St. John, a beacon of boundless love and selfless devotion, departed from this mortal coil on the 22nd of July, 2025, in the serene town of Hoosick Falls. Born on the 25th of June, 1934, in the charming town of Champlain, Stella's journey through life was marked by an unwavering commitment to nurturing those around her. She was a sister, a mother, a grandmother, a great-grandmother, and to many, she was "GRAM," a title she wore as a badge of honor and affection. In the tapestry of Stella's life, the threads of family and service were interwoven with the utmost care. She was the cherished sister to Elizabeth Betty Bauregard, Blanch Gates, Amy Duquette, Pauline Meillieus, Alice Charbonneau, Orrie, Floyd, Homer, George, and Raymond St. John. Stella's legacy is lovingly carried on by her daughter, Tina Moran, and adopted daughter Kimberly Guilianelli, and she was predeceased by her valiant sons, Timothy and John Leibach, and their father, John Leibach Sr. Her spirit will continue to dance in the laughter and dreams of her granddaughters, Amanda and Leara Moran, and her four great-grandchildren, Addisyn Moran-Shumpis, Ava "MAE" Moran, Chase Moran, and Sophia Clark-Moran. She also has several additional grands amd great grands that she always felt as her own Raina Miller, Daisy Gamache (Moran), Derek and Dean Halikias, Kayelin Moran, Emily (Smellady) Keeler, Kyrstie Sheridan, Samantha Bellefeuille, last but not least Grams Baby Kyra Trudell. Stella's life was a testament to the power of love and the strength of the human spirit. As a nurse, she dedicated her life to the service of others, a calling she embraced with every fiber of her being. Her hands, which once toiled upon the family farm, later brought comfort and healing to countless souls within the walls of the old Ann Lee Nursing Home, through private duty work, and at the Mary Alice Ford Nursing Home in Cohoes. Stella's versatility knew no bounds; she even crafted pizzas with the same passion she applied to her nursing duties. Her education, which included a high school diploma, a CNA degree, and a PA certificate, was but a foundation upon which she built a life of caring and compassion. Stella's spirit was not confined to the institutions of religion, for she was a spiritual being who found the divine in the love she shared and the help she offered. Stella's interests were as diverse as the many lives she touched. Her home was a sanctuary, her door always open, her phone within reach for those in need. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life—puzzles, playing cards, and her favorite game of rummy. The echoes of laughter from episodes of "Friends" filled her home, a testament to her love for the show. Her impressive record collection was a source of solace and joy, each melody a note in the symphony of her life. In the words of the great poet Emily Dickinson, "If I can stop one heart from breaking, I shall not live in vain." Stella lived this truth every day, her generosity and warmth a balm to the weary and a light to the lost. She was the embodiment of love, humor, and selflessness, her presence a comforting embrace to all who were fortunate enough to know her. In the latter years of her life, Stella reveled in the company of her daughter, granddaughters, and great-grand babies. They were her universe, her joy, her heart's delight. To be part of Stella's family was to be blessed with an abundance of her sweet soul, her heart, and her comfort. As we bid farewell to Stella St. John, let us remember her as the embodiment of Shakespeare's words: "They do not love that do not show their love." Stella showed her love in every act of kindness, every moment of care, and every sacrifice she made. Her legacy is written in the hearts of those she leaves behind, a legacy of love that will echo through the ages. Farewell, sweet Stella, until we meet again in that undiscovered country from whence no traveler returns. Your memory shall be a treasure locked within our hearts, your spirit a guiding light to lead us through the shadows of our grief. Rest now in peace, for you have loved well and truly, and by that love, you have transformed the world. Funeral services are Wednesday at 3pm from the Marra Funeral Home, calling hours are Wednesday from 1-3 prior to services. A Celebration of Life will be held at 4pm at the K of C on Remsen St. Cohoes.
