Donald W. Ballard Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Donald W. Ballard, 66, of Cohoes, passed July 26th, suddenly at home. He is survived by two children Greg W (Rhonda) Ballard, Kelly M Dawson and 6 grandchildren Jamie Rose, Kara, Tobias, Elias, Aurora, and Sylas. He is also survived by his sister Jane Laffer (Nelson), brother John Jr. (Florence), brother Robert (Ann Marie), brother Thomas (Lita), sister Debra Smith (Mike), brother William (Sherry), sister Darlene Ballard (Pamela); step-sister Amelia (Robert) Roy, step-sister Lucie (Dave) Smith, and step-brother Peter (Diana) Lefco as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents John H. Ballard Sr. and Madeline Ballard Godfrey. Born in Cohoes and lifelong resident. Owned and operated the Central Avenue Barber shop. He also worked for Century House for many years taking on many roles. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, drawing, painting and being a handy man around his home. Spending time with his family was very important to him; but most of all being a proud grandpa playing games and making memories. A public viewing is scheduled for Monday August 3rd 6-8pm at Marra Funeral Home in Cohoes and a private family service followed by a burial at Union Cemetery in Halfmoon, NY on Tuesday. Due to COVID restrictions the family kindly requests guests follow appropriate guidelines.
