Margaret P. LaMora Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Cohoes, NY Margaret P. LaMora, 91, a resident of Cohoes, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2020, in the Eddy Village Green in Cohoes. She was born July 21, 1929, a daughter of the late James B. and Margaret Maloney Gilloon. On June 1, 1949 she was united in marriage to Raymond K. LaMora who preceded her in death May 21, 2020. She is survived by her children: Margaret A. Pierre and husband, Robert of Cohoes; Raymond K. LaMora Jr, and wife Susan of Elkins, WV; and Theresa (Terri) M. Elliott and husband Thomas of Malta, NY. Grandchildren, Michael R. and James Pierre of New York and Jennifer Morgan and Raymond K. LaMora III of West Virginia. Margaret is also survived by six Great Grandchildren: Connor and Mia Pierre, Grant and Emma Morgan and Logan and Felicity LaMora. She is survived by her beloved grand dogs, Oola (deceased), Posy, Frost and Wrigley Elliott. Also preceding her in death were her sisters Kathleen Slaver and Jane Kelly. Margaret was the last surviving member of the Gilloon family. Margaret started her career at the age of 15 at Cohoes Memorial Hospital where she eventually worked her way up to the manager of the business office. After that hospital closed she went to work at the Samaritan Hospital in Troy, NY from which she retired in 1993. She was a member of St. Agnes and Holy Trinity churches where she was also a long-time member of those church choirs. Her life was dedicated to her husband and children. She enjoyed travelling, reading, shopping and gardening. The family would like to thank the staff and administrators, Eddy Village Green, especially in Building 16, and Community Hospice for all of their caring and support. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the charity of your choice in Margaret’s name. Due to the Covid pandemic, mask's will be required and social distancing will be practiced. Limited occupancy according to New York State regulation's will be allowed for relatives and friends to visit from 9:30-11am Monday at the Marra Funeral Home. Grave side services will follow at 11:30 in St. Agnes Cemetery Cohoes.
