Daniel Patrick Gregory

Cohoes, NY Daniel Patrick Gregory, 65, passed away unexpectedly at home on December 25, 2025. A lifelong resident of Cohoes, he was the son of Edward (Elizabeth) Gregory and the late Mary Elaine (Benjamin) Rosecrans. Daniel was a 1978 graduate of the former Keveny Memorial Academy in Cohoes, New York. Daniel is survived by his companion of 15 years and love of his life, Lesleigh Rushford. Daniel first went to work for the New York State Child Support Services in Albany, New York. He then went on to become the pizza maker for his brother, John, and sister-in-law Mary’s pizzeria, The Pizza Mill, formerly in Cohoes. He ended his career at Stanley Steamer, working alongside his uncle. He enjoyed playing the horses and going to the Saratoga Race Track to meet with Mike, Kelly, and his friend, John. Daniel was an avid New York Knicks, New York Mets, and New York Giants fan. He loved listening to his nephew, Kory, and his band. He enjoyed going to OTB, attending many family parties throughout the year, grandchildren’s sporting events, and fun times at their house. He loved spending the summer days at the pool, whether at his brother's or with the grandchildren. He loved his trips to Daytona Beach with family and friends years before. Daniel’s favorite time was spent at Schroon Lake. Danny, also known as Waz, exemplified extraordinary kindness through his gentle demeanor. His enduring legacy will continue to inspire and motivate his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Daniel is also survived by his step-daughters, Jessica Dearstyne (Pat Kane) of Watervliet, Nicole (Jesse) Johnson of Averill Park, and step-son, Nathan Rushford of Averill Park. He was the proud Poppie to Isabella, Brayden, Madelynn, Evan, Hazel, and Abigail. He leaves behind his sisters Nancy (Dan) Hytko and Mary Ellen Gregory, brothers John (Mary) Gregory and Edward (Karen) Gregory, all of Cohoes, New York, as well as his sister Meghann (Michael) Doiron of South Carolina. Many cousins, nieces, and nephews will miss Uncle Danny, most especially Josh, Kory, and Eli. Daniel is also survived by Aunt Anne Cummings of Kingston, Uncle Clark (Donna) Gregory of Cohoes, and Alton Hobbs of Cohoes. He will be missed by Mrs. Jayne Winner, Mike and Kelly, Dean and Carol David, and LuJuan, Darrell and Patty Judie and Dave Bonnie and Peter and Jennifer and John, as well as his beloved cats, Lola and Felix. Funeral services will be held Friday, 1/2 at 12pm from the Marra Funeral Home. Calling hours are 9am-12pm prior to services. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Troy, New York.
