Diana Sheron Mayo

Diana Sheron Mayo, 69, passed away silently on Wednesday the 19th of July, 2023 at her home in Cohoes NY. She was born on July 31st 1953 in Colon Panama and moved to the U.S. at age 3. She was a 1971 graduate at Hoosic Valley High School in Schaghticoke, NY where she resided for much of her young life. Diana had a few smaller jobs throughout her young adult years, but really had a passion for nursing which became her career for over 30 years. She became a Licensed practical Nurse and gave much of her love, compassion and time being a caregiver for many many people. She retired in February 2022 at Diamond Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Troy NY. After retirement, Diana spent a lot of her time home but really enjoyed her online shopping and visits from her Grandchildren and great grandchildren. Diana was a very thoughtful and loving person and did much of what she did out of selflessness. Anyone who got to be around Diana described her as fun, outgoing, and just the life of the party. She had the best sense of humor and loved to joke around and make everyone laugh. She loved collecting her favorite items like butterflies, hippos, buddhas, and angels. She enjoyed cooking and keeping things nice and tidy. Diana spoke of missing her family often. Predeceased by her husband of 30 years Michael Mayo Jr., her mother Lucila Mclaughlin, grandmother Muriel Alexander, and great grandmother Raquel. Diana is survived by her daughter Carrie Thornton, granddaughters Melissa Thornton, Taylor Thornton, and Brianna Thornton. Great Grandsons, Jasper Chapple Jr.,and Aurian and Juilian Sypniewski. Also survived by her step father Richard Mclaughlin and three brothers, James Mclaughlin, Patrick Mclaughlin, and Kevin Mclaughlin. Cousin Raquel Lewan and several more cousins, nieces and nephews. The family would like to express sincere thanks to Albany County Hospice nurse Marsha and Hospice social worker Nick for their help and care for Diana during her last days of life. Arrangements made by Marra Funeral Home Cohoes NY. Calling hours are from 4-6pm Friday July 28, 2023 at Marra. Services to follow at 6pm. There will be no after service gathering.
