In Loving Memory of Gail “Gailzy” Zeissig July 15, 1938 – May 12, 2026 Gail “Gailzy” Zeissig passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026, at the age of 87. Gail lived a life filled with strength, humor, independence, and unwavering love for the people fortunate enough to know her. Her presence was unforgettable, and the impact she made on others will continue to be felt for generations to come. Gail was a woman who never hesitated to speak her mind. Known for her spirited personality, sharp wit, and “spicy” comments, she had a remarkable ability to keep those around her on their toes while also making them feel deeply loved and accepted. She could test a person’s patience and character, but once you earned your place in her circle, you became family. Throughout her years with the Center for Disabilities Services, residing at Bradford and Campito, and receiving day program services, Gail formed countless meaningful relationships with staff and friends who lovingly referred to her as “Grandma Gail.” Her resilience, independence, and determination inspired many. Gail took pride in living life on her own terms, and she carried that strength with her until her final days. Behind Gail’s feisty personality was a deeply caring heart. Those closest to her knew her love through warm hugs, contagious laughter, playful sarcasm, and the joy she brought into everyday moments. She touched the lives of many, but especially held close Amanda Brand and Alexi Graham, whom she lovingly considered her adopted granddaughters, as well as Peyton Graham, her adopted great-granddaughter. The bond they shared brought tremendous joy and comfort to Gail’s life, just as she brought love and wisdom into theirs. Gail also shared a special connection with Penny Brand, whom she loved as her own daughter for more than twenty years. Their relationship was one built on loyalty, affection, and enduring companionship. An animal lover at heart, Gail treasured her beloved cat, Rocky Pumpkin, who had been her faithful companion for many years. She found endless happiness in playing with him and watching him chase his toys and laser pointer, moments that brought her laughter and comfort. Her most recent cat Wayne who she gained a rapport with quickly and will have a lasting memory as well as her fish who she loved to watch and care for daily. Gail will be remembered for her energy, her humor, her stubborn strength, and the unforgettable memories she created with everyone she encountered. Whether it was racing through the halls, sharing a sarcastic joke, or offering a smile at just the right moment, she left a lasting imprint on the hearts of those around her. Though Gail may no longer walk beside us, her memory, laughter, and spirit will live on eternally in the hearts of all who loved her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday May 20th at 12:00pm from the Marra Funeral Home. Visitation hours will be held prior to services from 11:00am to 12:00 pm. Everyone is invited to a gathering at Campito (17 Colonie Ave Latham NY) after the service.
