Larry Ward

Halfmoon, NY Larry Ward, 68, passed away July 5th, 2024 after a long battle with multiple myeloma. He was a proud Air Force Veteran who served his country from 1974-1977 working on B-52 Bombers. After leaving the Air Force he launched his 30 year career with Verizon. He was a Project Manager instrumental in launching several ground breaking programs. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Diane Grennon, for 49 years~theirs was a love story of 52 years. Larry was a devoted father to his two daughters, Jamie (Will) Brown and Jennifer (Tom) Manny. There was never a time that he was not available to them or for them. Dad was always a phone call away and taught them that taking care of family is the most important thing in this life. His most treasured role was that of Papa to his 5 grandchildren, Jackson Brown, Mason Manny, Caden Manny, Landon Brown and Adelynn Manny. Some of best days were spent fishing, dirt bike riding, camping, cruising, family time in Maine and St. Maarten, crab catching, frog catching, playing any sport, playing poker and the ponies, taking the grandkids to the movies, the memories are endless. He never missed an opportunity to cheer on one of his grandkids any time they took their place on a court, a field or a stage. Showing up for them was always the most important thing to him. They always looked for their Papa in the crowd and he was always there. Larry is survived by his siblings Joanne (Al) Ward, Jimmy (Marie) Ward, Kathy (John) Geleta, Danny (Emily) Ward, and Doug Ward~with whom he shared a very special bond, his brother in law Gary (Ann) Grennon, sisters in law Sue (Steve) Amyot, Mary Ann (Brian) Beaury and Lisa (Gary) Ethier. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Earl and Marilyn Ward. Family and friends are invited to attend a Christian Celebration of his life on Wednesday at 9 am at St. Mary’s Crescent Church, Churchill Road Waterford followed by an Internment of Ashes at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetary. In Larry’s honor please do something nice for someone.
